DIY chalkboard frame

Hey! No card today. Instead, I wanted to share my recent DIY project.

I saw this frame, discounted to 1/4 of its original price, in TK Maxx and it was love at first sight. Without much thinking I bought it and took it home and only then I realized that I don’t know what to do with it! There was no glass in this frame so it couldn’t be used for displaying photos or collages as dust would gather on the surface.

I thought it would be fun to use this frame to create either cork board or chalkboard. Luckily, my husband had a sheet of black chalkboard vinyl handy and we proceeded to stick it to the board inside the frame.

The frame was chipped off in two or three of places but I painted over them with mix of silver and gold acrylic paint and there is almost no sign. I left the scratches on the surface of the frame untouched for distressed effect.

We hanged it near entrance door so that it will be handy for writing reminders or shopping lists. But firstly I had to give a vent to my artistic  impulses and the effects you can see on the pics 🙂
